The Satchmo Award was created by The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc. and represents a tribute to the life and

legacy of Louis Armstrong, whose art and generosity of spirit inspired people all over the world. True to the mission of the Foundation,

which Armstrong himself established to encourage jazz education, this award singles out a teacher/player of jazz whose superb

professional technique reflects the spirit of Louis Armstrong, his true love of young people, and his inspiring belief in the power of

music, essential in making a wonderful world.
